We’ve come to a major milestone in girl-world, everybody…. Emerson’s first haircut! For as long as I can remember she’s been pretty stubborn about wanting to grow her hair “to her feet like the fairies.” I finally convinced her that maybe a little trim would be a good idea in order to maintain good hair health. She agreed and skeptically joined me for a very quick trip to the salon. The expression on her face which did not change for her entire visit says it all, “I’m nervous about this but curious enough to let you come at me with those scissors.” She definitely breathed a sigh of relief when it was...
New Theme, What’s New?
If there’s one thing I’m notorious for, it’s switching up my blog, and when I say ‘switch it up’ what I really mean is change it completely. I’ve always had a hard time defining exactly what I wanted it to be and it’s a good thing I keep it up for my own enjoyment and not much else beyond that…. although I do get a kick out of people reading it (thanks for hanging in there with me!) and my hopes are that one day Emerson will get a kick out of reading it too. Several things have been pushing me in the direction of an overall simplification. First, I wanted to streamline the process I...
Bumble Boogie

Emerson’s dance journey the past 9 months has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride of emotions — beginning at the bottom and looping its way up to the top with many ups and downs in between. I knew it wasn’t going to be a complete walk in the park from the beginning. I was nervous to enroll her knowing her birthday fell a few days past the age cut-off (3 yrs) and she was still only 2 that very first class! At home she was watching old dance recital tapes and Shirley Temple movies like crazy, so we went for it! Emerson is pretty shy and it took several weeks of warming...
Easter Bunny Bonanza

The only day of the year Emerson will go near eggs: Easter! After a yummy family dinner and cheesecake, Em finally got to have her egg hunt. She’d been looking into the whereabouts of her Easter eggs from last year for quite some time, and I’d be lying if I said I didn’t look forward to this holiday myself. She shrieked with delight while running through the yard collecting all 58 eggs. There’s definitely something to be said about the weather allowing us to hunt eggs outside — it was the epitome of a perfect day at a whopping 75 degrees! After all the eggs were opened and their contents were sorted out, E...
End of the Day (Week)

Last weekend we got to pretend it was spring for one day before it snowed again on Sunday (for the last time, right?). I love that E thinks the weekend is called the ‘end of the day.’ Here’s how it all went down… Emerson ate a pound of strawberries… … watched Cinderella while getting a pretty pink mani/pedi… … had a sweet nap with a picture of a cake that she tore out of a magazine and has been obsessing over ever since… … convinced me to take her to Arnold’s Park (poor thing didn’t believe me that it wasn’t open yet)… … hit up the playground and gave her...
