My dad came this weekend to help us with a few odd jobs around the house. We jazzed up the closet in Emerson’s room and still had plenty of time for some fun....
Apartment Life No More
The idea of home ownership always seemed like a huge hassle to me and something I just couldn’t be bothered to think about. I was perfectly happy renting and having the opportunity to change my address every year (or 6 months) if I liked. As of March 5, I will have lived in Pella for 4 years. In those 4 years, I have moved 5 times. It’s surprising even to me, but I would like to announce that I will be moving my 6th and final time in April! Within a week of learning I was pregnant I knew this lifestyle needed to change. I thought of my own childhood...
Sisterhood of the New Pants
How can a few new pairs of pants make me feel so much better about life? Some girl-time with Meghan and Emerson yesterday gave me just the boost I’ve been craving lately. I fulfilled my need for a wardrobe re-vamp and my sister fulfilled her fantasy of toting ‘her’ baby around the outdoor mall. It was a perfect Wednesday afternoon, complete with pizza, laughs and a lot of retail therapy! I would take Nannykins Meghan everywhere with me if given the option! I wish both my sisters lived closer but it’s always fun to unexpectedly meet up somewhere in the middle. Emerson is quite the trooper when it comes to shopping...
Ho Ho Home For the Holidays: Part 2
It’s been a great week but it’s time to get back to reality. I blinked and it’s Thursday. How can this be? We’ve been in Spirit Lake since Saturday and it’s already time to go. As my Christmas vacation wraps itself up I’m realizing that when you have a small child, a week off doesn’t necessarily equate ‘vacation.’ While it’s been great to lounge in our pj’s while watching movies and napping… I’m only a fraction less exhausted than before I arrived. That said, I wouldn’t trade a week with my family for anything. Today will be bitter-sweet because although I’ve had a much-anticipated wonderful time, I’m sad to leave...
Ho Ho Home For the Holidays: Part 1
Christmas vacation so far… We traveled through some wild weather to spend Christmas Eve in Humboldt. Despite blizzard conditions we made it safely and enjoyed the evening with Nic’s family. Christmas morning was very relaxed and full of gifts and Christmas stories. Emerson and I traveled north to Spirit Lake later in the morning where we spent the next week. There’s nothing quite like spending time with family, especially over holidays. This was a very special year as we are all very thankful to have Emerson there for her very first Christmas! I am so thankful for this amazing blessing and look forward to making every Christmas special for my...
