It’s pumpkin day for my little pumpkin! Emme and I kicked off the Halloween weekend by watching ‘It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.’ She loved the Peanuts theme song and will be jamming out on the piano before we know it (my motherly intuition told me so). We had a great time with Gram and Gramps – watched Iowa dominate and ate a lot of brownie cookies! The days always seem to go way too fast but we’re thankful they could stay as long as they did! Emme looked adorable in her ‘First Halloween’ outfit and enjoyed the novelty of wearing orange. We didn’t see any trick-or-treaters this year but...
Welcome Home, Baby!
Let’s do this — bringing our angel home! Emerson was released from the hospital the Saturday after she was born! Our time there wasn’t as relaxing as I had imagined; nurses in and out of the room all hours of the day/night and baby stressed me out when she didn’t catch on to nursing very well. We struggled through and eventually gave in to supplementing with formula. The day we were scheduled to check-out, we woke up to a bright orange bundle — jaundice. After 3 additional days in the hospital and endless poking and prodding, E’s bilirubin levels came down enough for us to take our little pumpkin home...
Baby Bliss
As I’ve been feeling so thankful for this beautiful miracle, all concept of time has completely escaped me! So much has happened since my last post. After months of anticipation, Emerson Eleanor was finally born! I went into labor at midnight on September 7 and spent the next 6.5 hours pacing around our apartment and bouncing around on an exercise ball. Before we left for the hospital I took Bela for one last walk, kissed him good-bye, and let my mom know the time had come – thinking there would be several hours of grueling labor ahead of me and plenty of time for her to get to Pella before...
I Made a Garden!
Another weekend almost gone, but we have a crib to show for it! Baby’s room is well underway and ready for some show-and-tell! I’m eagerly awaiting the dresser and handmade crib bumper/skirt a la Grandma Deb. It’s hard to put stuff away when it’s all so cute. I wish it could be displayed forever but unfortunately I still have a pile of things to shove into the closet somehow… baby E.E. is already very spoiled! Loved spending some time with my parents yesterday and looking forward to a visit from Nic’s parents this evening for a belated birthday celebration. Here we go — week 38!...
Shower Me!
I cannot give enough thanks to friends and family for showing so much enthusiasm over this baby! Who knew opening presents could be so exhausting? It’s Thursday and I’ve finally recovered from the past 2 crazy weekends! I’m so thankful for all of the family and friends who’ve made me feel incredibly blessed with their words of kindness, prayers and gifts! I am truly humbled by your generosity! As I’m finishing out the 37th week I also give thanks for such a wonderful pregnancy because I’m still feeling great! This week my focus has been on organizing the awesome baby loot we’ve acquired and making room for the grand entrance...
