Iowa Children’s Museum

On St. Patty’s Day, my sisters took Emerson and me to the Iowa Children’s Museum in Coralville for some creative play. While we were there Emerson did some grocery shopping, visited the hospital, played several instruments, built a car, and learned about gravity! I’m sure she’ll get more out of it when she’s a little older, but I would still recommend it to any parents looking for a fun place to let their tots explore!...

Natural Healing

Sunday morning we woke up with the sun and went along with Nic to his favorite fishing spot. The scenery was literally picture-perfect and I now understand why he ventures there so often. Emerson and I had fun hiking around, bird-watching, and finding sticks while Bela tore through the grass enjoying every last second of freedom in the wild. If ticks didn’t exist, I would begin every day just like this. ...

Birthday Flashback

Happy 1/2 Birthday, Big E! In honor of Emerson’s half-birthday coming up in a few days, I decided to finally gather up the 1 year birthday party photos! I was so wrapped up in everything going smoothly that day, I barely took any pics myself (lucky for me that’s what grandmas are for)! It’s fun to look back and really see how quickly they grow up! I can’t believe it’s already been 6 months! Thanks to everyone who made this such a fun day!  ...

February Fun (Finally)

After canceling our plans several times, Emerson and I finally made it to Spirit Lake last weekend! We had a lot of fun with Grammy and Grandpa; in fact, they kept us pretty busy with sledding, shopping and nail painting! I never in a million years would have been brave enough to paint this wild girl’s nails, but her Gram sure had the magic touch. Grandpa must have been working his magic too because Emerson could have spent the whole day outside riding around the yard on the toboggan (even Bela had a spark of interest in this activity)!...

Super Bowl Swagger

The Super Bowl: whether it’s the binge snacking, half-time show, cutting-edge commercials or suspense of the game… it makes an NFL fan out of me once every year. Emerson loved the snacks and was especially enthused about the half-time show. She ‘Vogued’ with Madonna and was pleasantly surprised by the LMFAO guest performance (her favorite). She looked pretty tired during the first half of the game, but party rocking brought on a second wind which lasted until 11 pm…  Someone should consider Super Bowl Saturday instead of Sunday so that sleeping-in the following day is a possibility....
