Hippity Hoppity, Easter’s on its way! Emerson was able to see all 4 grandparents over the holiday weekend. We started it off Friday morning with a long drive to Spirit Lake. It was relaxing to get there early in the afternoon and to spend the day with Gram before everyone else made it home. E had a blast with her Aunties and I have to say Jory was hands-down the favorite this visit… sorry Meg but you know it’s true! The absolute highlight of the weekend for Emerson was the Easter egg hunt. Her natural inclination to carry a basket or purse at all times was a huge advantage. Gram’s egg hunt was well thought out so that everyone could participate while bringing out the competitive side in my sisters. Eggs were color-coded with corresponding prize categories and a note inside the egg distinguished who had first, second or third choice in each category. My family loves games so an Easter egg hunt with rules was no surprise!
On the way home we stopped in Humboldt to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Stockdale. Emerson helped decorate their Easter egg tree and was truly enchanted by their pets. It’s always a surprise to me that she shows no fear or apprehension toward a black lab of at least twice her size but instead is more than willing to pet and hug her. On this particular day, E was particularly interested in the kitties; she got some good cuddling in until her excitement finally scared them away. After a delicious meal I packed up my exhausted child and made the trip the rest of the way home feeling very blessed and thankful for our amazing family.
