13 months — my one-year-old in action! From the time Emerson started daycare (7 months ago) she’s cried EVERY time I’ve dropped her off… until today. This morning when I dropped her off she was full of waves, smiles, and ‘Hi’s’ for everyone. Even when I sat her down to play with some balls (she can also say ‘Ball’!) she waved at me and said, ‘Hi.’ I didn’t hear a single peep out of her when I made the big exit. Maybe I could have saved myself some heartache if I had been saying ‘Hi’ instead of ‘Bye’ to her every morning. Even without adequate amounts of sleep, my days could be so much better if she didn’t cry every time I dropped her off. Leaving your crying child behind doesn’t get easier, even though I know she’s in good hands. Tomorrow we’ll see if this was a fluke or actual milestone.
In other news, Emerson is taking her own sweet time with walking. She’s taken a few steps here and there, but still prefers crawling. She likes to push chairs and toys around the house and does very well while holding our hands but when it comes right down to it, I’m afraid she thinks she’s a dog. She identifies with Bela, his toys, his water bowl, his leash… it’s all very interesting to her. She tries so hard to say his name, but hasn’t quite gotten it right. She continues to enjoy music and loves to dance and clap. All except for her newborn-esque sleep schedule at night we’re all doing very well!
