In all the drama of the past week I forgot to mention Emerson has expanded her vocabulary to include the word ‘Bubba’ (bubble)! When we wash our hands, do dishes or take baths, ‘Bubbas’ are on her mind! It’s very cute because she holds out her hand and waits to be given some bubbles to play with. Very fun! A package for Emerson arrived today from Courtney and Andy! It really couldn’t have come at a better time as it lifted her spirits and distracted her from relentless teething pains. She had a ball tearing open the tissue paper and continued to move it in and out of the box...
Molar Mayhem
Molars. You can’t live with ’em. You can’t live without ’em. Emerson has been going through a major molar meltdown for the past week. My only question – when will it end!? Teething as we knew it was bad enough, but this is a whole new level of torture for the whole family. Tantrums, irritability, decreased appetite, fever, biting and refusal to sleep are just a few of the lovely symptoms. Thank goodness for re-runs of Friends from 1-3 am and I Love Lucy from 3-5 am. I would never have guessed this would be my schedule at 13 months! I spotted one emerged molar in Emme’s mouth last night; let’s just...
Rainy and Waffly Weekend
It’s been a relaxing weekend for Emme, Bela and me while Nic has been in Humboldt. Of course we miss Dad, but in the mean time we’re keeping busy with walks, movies, books, Skype and waffles! Yesterday we made our weekly stroll to the square for delicious warm beverages and light shopping. Then Emerson had a good chat with her Gram and Grampa before a sweet afternoon nap. We watched my new favorite movie, Secretariat, and cuddled the night away. This morning we slept in late (8am!), made waffles and read lots of books (Emerson prefers to read to me). Now we’re just waiting for Nic to get home with...
The Sweetest Thing
How are they not the most innocent creatures on this earth?...
The Adventuress
There doesn’t seem to be an ounce of fear in Emerson at this age. She loves a good thrill and curiosity drives her to try new things every day. A little bit on the reckless side, she is known to try to crawl off the edge of the bed, defy the table by standing up underneath it, eat dog food and most recently… purposely dunk her face under water during bath time. Preventing these explorations is a full-time job in itself. The best way to do so is keeping her very busy and we did just that this weekend. We started it off Friday night with a pedicure followed by...
