Turning 8 was definitely great and possibly the best birthday yet! I am so proud of the little lady Emerson is becoming. I’m regularly blown away by her thoughtfulness and inquisition and while I caught a glimpse of a premature teenage attitude over the summer, she is silly and sweet to the core. Her enthusiasm for animals has not slowed down and to her list of interests I’d like to add tiny ‘surprise’ toys, Descendants and The Greatest Showman, math games, bracelet making, and the great outdoors (still a ‘yes’ for bugs and worms). We celebrated her birthday with the usual sugar overload for breakfast and a visit from her dad and I over lunch. Birthdays...
Shooting Star 6th Birthday
Meet my SIX year old, Emerson! As per birthday guidelines, we began the day with donuts and a birthday serenade by yours truly. Is there a better way? There is not. To make her day extra special, Gaga and I joined her for lunch at school and she goofed off in true Kindergarten fashion… Later that day, her dad joined us for pizza, presents, cake and to watch The Jungle Book because we are obsessed! We ended the day exactly where it started — with a plate of sugary treats, lots of laughs and a sleepy birthday girl. I hope all of her wishes come true this year and that her dreams are just...
Go Emme, It’s Your Birthday!
There are just too many awesome things about turning 5! Forget about nap time — you get to start school, your brain is exploding with knowledge, you make new friends, you can refill your cup all by yourself since you can now reach the water dispenser, you invent and create party machines and alphabet games, you make your own sandwiches, animals and art are still your passions, you’re very serious about keeping up with sweeping the leaves off the deck, your self-confidence and independence are growing by the day, but you still love to sneak in bed with me every night for a good snuggle. We celebrated the birthday girl this year with...
Birthday Week
What a week it was! I haven’t stopped stuttering yet over Emerson’s age… out with ‘3’ and in with ‘4’ is a tough concept for me. An even tougher concept? Out with the warm and in with the cold! With temps dipping down as low as 35 degrees last week, I’m missing the summer months already. We’re definitely getting excited for some fun fall activities and breaking out the winter wardrobe…. not so bad, right? I am proud to report that the unseasonably cold weather didn’t stop us from a few outdoor activities last week. After a nice birthday snooze last Sunday, we visited the Clay County fair. Em couldn’t quite get over the smell...
A Little Party Never Hurt Nobody
Another birthday came and went and as far as I know, we all survived… although a little extra sleep would go a long way! Emerson turned four on Sunday and took advantage of every possible minute of her special day beginning at about 5:45 am. We like to sleep in around here so she must have been psyched out of her mind for the big birthday. Even in complete darkness she noticed her room had been filled with balloons right off the bat and asked, “Mommy, why are there so many balloons in my room?” To which I replied, “It’s just a dream, go back to sleep.” I’m obviously no match for her four-year-old...
