The circus came to town this weekend and I’ve never seen my mom more excited than when she won tickets from KUOO for the whole family. Emerson woke up several days in a row expressing great excitement towards visiting the Big-Top. Saturday finally arrived and the suspense built right through nap-time and finally peaked as we arrived and she caught her first glance at elephants, ponies, clowns, and a bounce house. It was more than enough stimulation for a two-year old (at times probably too much). Emerson and I hopped on the back of an elephant as quick as we could! She was amazed by their trunks and how they...
Papa’s Girl
Emerson is truly crazy about each of her grandparents, but last weekend Papa was definitely her chosen playmate. From the moment he walked in the door Friday night after work she kept him busy. They snuggled up in a ‘fort’ Em made, she doctored him up with lots of band-aids and baby bottles, and they even managed to do some sledding before the last of our snow melted. ...
Life in the North Pole
Fall-ing into a new routine: Emerson made herself right at home at Papa and Gaga’s house. She has no problem climbing every imaginable surface, emptying drawers, filling Cooper’s kennel with her books, and sneaking out of bed to set the table with paper plates. As usual, she’s very busy! She’s had a great transition into a new daycare and loves seeing her cousin, Jackson, every day at school! His awesome parents have invited me to share their BonFire Web Company office space which I couldn’t be more grateful for! Earlier this week we had a play date with them at the pumpkin patch… so this is what it’s like to...
Birthday Weekend: Friday
For the entire year leading up to Emerson’s second birthday I’ve been dreaming it would be filled with confetti falling from the sky, balloons as far as the eye can reach, circus performers in the front yard…. something extraordinary! We awakened on that 7th day of September to the harsh reality that time was not going to halt so that we might run around with ribbon dancers and frolic happily in a meadow. Oh no. We were thrown into the regular whirlwind morning routine complete with a floor of yogurt and a disheveled mother which led into a full day of work for me and daycare for E. This particular...
Hide-and-Shriek
Emerson and Abigail were so thoughtful to provide 4th of July entertainment yesterday! The adults enjoyed watching their little game of Hide-and-Shriek as much if not more than they enjoyed playing it. Emme will never be satisfied with hiding alone in the curtains again after having such a blast with Abby! Thanks for spending the holiday with us, Smiths!...
