Welcome Home, Baby!

Let’s do this — bringing our angel home! Emerson was released from the hospital the Saturday after she was born! Our time there wasn’t as relaxing as I had imagined; nurses in and out of the room all hours of the day/night and baby stressed me out when she didn’t catch on to nursing very well. We struggled through and eventually gave in to supplementing with formula. The day we were scheduled to check-out, we woke up to a bright orange bundle — jaundice.  After 3 additional days in the hospital and endless poking and prodding, E’s bilirubin levels came down enough for us to take our little pumpkin home (literally, she was very orange). A nurse was scheduled to come directly to our apartment to periodically monitor her jaundice. Once we finally made it home after a slow and cautious drive from the hospital,  Bela got to meet our new addition! I’ve never seen him so nervous! I also found this to be an overwhelming and emotional day! Once we settled in, Emme was welcomed by many eager visitors from each side of the family and presented with a Hawkeye onesie that would seal her fate as a forever fan!

Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home! Welcome Home!
